Dana Tai Soon Burgess, hailed by the Washington Post as "the area's leading dance artist," presented Friday May 8, 2009, at American Art Museum, McEnvoy Auditorium8Washington, DC, the original work Hyphen, which integrates the work of video artist Nam June Paik, and Chino Latino. He also premieres a work in progress, Island, which explores the Asian Pacific American experience at the Angel Island Immigration Station in California. Following the performance, Burgess, his dancers and design team take part in a discussion with Franklin Odo, director, Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Program.

Friday, May 01, 2009 The Horse’s Mouth was created to capture the stories and lives of NY’s maturing dance world. The Horse’s Mouth has captured living dance history in cities around the globe. Part improvisation, part story-telling, always moving (literally and otherwise), The HM rounds up the DC area’s sage elders in dance, throws in a mix of younger ones as well, and almost instantaneously creates a dance archive before your eyes.
