Valerie St. Pierre Smith As a costume designer, Valerie St. Pierre Smith (M.F.A. San Diego State University, B.F.A. Stephens College) has served as a designer and artisan for clients that include Warner Brothers Studios; Universal Studios, Hollywood; The Old Globe Theatre and Sea World, San Diego. She has also received several awards and recognition for her innovative design work. Some of her favorite design credits include The Tempest, Tartuffe, She Loves Me, A Doll's House, The Skriker and the world premiere of Horizon Theatre's The Body Project. Being of Native American descent, Professor Smith enjoys working with various performance groups and advocating on behalf of the arts and culture of her native people. She is also a fine artist; excited and inspired by the visual beauty, as well as the preservation, of nature. |
