The Laramie Project chronicles the efforts of a New York theatre troupe who expose the
true feelings of the residents of a small town after being thrust into the spotlight following
the 1998 hate-murder of college student Matthew Shepard.

About the Director: Nathan Garner has been a member of the theatre faculty at GW for more than 30 years. After working professionally as a lighting designer, he came to GW as resident designer and technical director. He received a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan with an emphasis in directing and was the department's director of theatre and producer from 1974-1983. He has directed dozens of productions at GW and elsewhere and acted in regional and summer repertory theatre in Washington and New England. His play, "Condor Qatay," co-authored with Catherine Allen, was produced by the department in 1994 and is published by Waveland Press.
