Guidelines for Technical/Design Presidential Arts Scholars
The Presidential Arts Scholarship in production design/tech is open to anyone who has had an active involvement in theater production and/or design and has an interest in continuing these activities at the university level. Design or crew work in the areas of scenery, costume, lighting, sound or stage management are relevant. Students interested in applying for this scholarship are interviewed by the design faculty during the Performing Arts Scholarship auditions. They should be prepared to discuss their activities and provide any supporting documentation that illustrates their work. Sample documentation may include but is not limited to:

Artwork (samples of non-theatrical artwork are also encouraged)
Design plans (drafting, sketches, light plots)
Renderings of design work
Photographs of actual work
Sample audio work
Stage manger prompt script
Letter of recommendation
Reviews
Any additional production paperwork

Selection is based on interest and enthusiasm as well as skill and knowledge.
NOTE: Applicants are welcome to audition/interview for as many as they feel qualified. Actors and dancers who have also developed skills in technical production may audition for both, or all three. However, a candidate may receive only one award. Multiple auditions may require applicant to be present for both days.
