Susan Alison Keady

A native Washingtonian, she directs and produces theatrical productions and she is an acting and scene study instructor. An educator with extensive experience teaching, Susan works in Arlington and Montgomery County public schools and she is a guest artist teaching for the Wolf Trap Center for Education, an internationally known provider of arts-based education programs for educators, performing artists, parents and children. As Artistic Director of Encore Stage & Studio, Susan plays a central role in introducing thousands of children in the Washington area to the magic of the theater. Her original script of Hansel and Gretel, was produced as part of the National Theater's series for children. She directed over 100 episodes of The Kinetic City Supercrew, a radio adventure series funded by the American Association for the Advancement of Science and currently broadcast on XM radio. The show won the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award for broadcast excellence, as well as numerous gold and silver medals for educational quality and best writing at the International Radio Festival of New York. Susan's Peabody Award commends her outstanding contribution as the program's director.
On the stage, Susan has directed over a hundred shows in the metropolitan area. She has appeared as an onstage performer in a variety of roles and she has also worked in films and television programs, as well as in commercials for such companies as Toyota, AT&T, Brooks Athletic Shoes and the "Got Milk" spots with Cal Ripken. Recently she appeared at the Women's Museum and the Kennedy Center in the role of Stella Adler.
